In 2005, there are so many different types of contraception available that pretty well any woman (or perhaps we should say ‘any couple’) should be able to find the right method for them – though you may have to try several different things before you hit on the one you like most.
It may help you to know what’s ‘Top of the Pops’ and what isn’t at the moment. In the UK in 2005, the Pill remains the most popular method – narrowly beating the condom into second place. Here is the current ‘league table’ of popularity among approved methods:

# condoms (sheath – male and female).
# female sterilisation.
# vasectomy.
# mini-Pill (POP) (progestogen-only Pill).
# the cap (including diaphragms).
# the coil (IUD).
# natural family planning (including ‘the rhythm method’).
# contraceptive injection (‘the Jab’).
# Mirena (the IUS).
# contraceptive implants
# the contraceptive patch (Evra).
