The message has been out there, but has everyone heard? Or have we heard it so many times that we have become numb to the facts? Diabetes certainly has its share of short- and long-term complications. Are we destined to fall prey to these, or can we succeed in preventing them?
According to Pete Arvan, M.D., PhD, chief of metabolism, endocrinology and diabetes at the University of Michigan Medical School, “Diabetes and it’s complications are a major public health issue, and today’s obesity epidemic will create even worse problems related to Type II diabetes in the future.”
