Thanks to scientists carrying out research in almost every major subject in medicine, there have been many improvements in the treatment options of cancer. There are four main techniques used in the treatment of breast cancer today.
These are surgery, hormonal treatment, radiation and cemotherapy.While this is a huge advantage for both surgeons and patients, sometimes it may be very hard to choose one of these alternative methods. When doctors are to prefer one specific method, they first look at the patient’s condition considering the three major treatment methods in medicine; namely, local treatment, systematic treatment and alternative therapy.First two of these methods have already been proven to be successful in the treatment process, but suspicions about the last still exist.For this reason, doctors hesitate to use it provided that they do not have to. Having been used for years, surgery is the most popular option for the treatment of breast cancer.Unlike the former decades, surgeons can look deep into the area that incorporates the tumor only and discard the infected region, thus preparing the rest of the body to radiation stage after the operation.Radiation technique is also helpful for fully cleaning the patient’s body from tumors and avoiding the recurrence of the illness in the future.
