Your level and type of physical activity and, of course, your diet also play their part. I strongly encourage everyone to be as physically active as possible throughout their whole life, but evidence suggests that the window from 35 years upwards has a more significant effect on your ageing than your physical activity levels in earlier years.

Aging is a natural process; but exercises can be of help to make a person look younger, healthier and stronger. Further loss of muscular strength, bone density and lung capacity can be controlled by incorporating proper exercise in our daily routine. Joints must be trained for flexibility and stretching.

When Cathy Perry’s blood pressure and cholesterol began climbing and her waist expanded by a few inches, she blamed middle age. Aging changes in the skin are a group of common conditions and developments that occur as people grow older. Skin changes are among the most visible signs of aging. Evidence of increasing age include wrinkles and sagging skin. Whitening or graying of the hair is another obvious sign of aging.

Women younger than age 75 years who eat diets rich in the yellow plant pigments lutein and zeaxanthin may have a reduced risk of developing the eye disease age-related macular degeneration, according to a report in the August issue of the Archives of Ophthalmology, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.

Sleeping pills are rarely the answer. Simple self-help steps and, if necessary, treatment by a sleep specialist can often remedy insomnia. In a National Institute on Aging study of more than 12,000 people aged 65 and older, over half of the men and women reported frequent trouble with sleeping. This finding confirms what you’ve already observed: with aging, it becomes harder to get to sleep and to stay asleep.
