The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reports that in 2005, total expenditures for aesthetic procedures were approximately $12.4 billion. From 2000 to 2005 the total number of aesthetic procedures increased from approximately 5.7 million to over 11.4 million procedures, representing a 15% compounded annual growth rate.

A new study has concluded that working overtime may be less healthy for women than for men. Psychologists at England’s University of Leeds surveyed working men and women and found overtime work was worse for women because they simply snacked more, which led to weight gain and declining health”My husband hardly ever snacks when he gets stressed. Me, I’m like, ‘Where’s the chips? Where’s the crackers. Where’s the cookies?’” Janice Holland said.

Mayo Clinic researchers have found that treating a facial wound in the early healing phase with botulinum toxin (BOTOX®) improves the appearance of a scar later. The findings are published in the August issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings.

The research, published in the July/August issue of the journal Child Development, found that 2-year-olds regularly exposed to cigarette smoke in utero were nearly 12 times more likely to show clinical levels of behavior problems compared to toddlers who were not exposed.
